Beijing Science and Technology Expo Focuses on AI Innovations

The 28th China Beijing International Science and Technology Industry Expo showcases AI innovations and green technologies from May 8 to 10, 2026.

Beijing Science and Technology Expo: Focusing on “Artificial Intelligence +” Innovations

From May 8 to 10, the 28th China Beijing International Science and Technology Industry Expo will be held at the National Convention Center. The theme of this year’s expo is “Technology Leads, Creating the Future,” gathering global sci-tech resources and creating a high-end platform for exhibitions, trade connections, achievement transformations, and international exchanges.

On the afternoon of May 7, reporters visited the expo site to observe the preparation progress and experience the highlights and innovative charm of this year’s event. At 3 PM, in the exhibition area of the National Convention Center, construction workers were busy setting up booths, debugging equipment, and arranging exhibits, creating a strong atmosphere of technological innovation. This year’s expo features six major thematic exhibition areas: information technology, intelligent manufacturing, medical health, green “dual carbon,” digital economy, and regional innovation, focusing on the main line of “Artificial Intelligence +” and creating an immersive AI ecological experience space. Over 800 domestic and international exhibitors and institutions will gather, showcasing a comprehensive picture of innovation that illustrates a “future already here” from core technology breakthroughs to practical applications.

In the Beijing Economic-Technological Development Area exhibition zone, various significant innovations are on display. On one side of the area, staff are debugging a simulated racing device, complete with a realistic seat, professional steering wheel, and surround high-definition screens, replicating the real track of last year’s GT car challenge held in Yizhuang. “After the expo opens, visitors can enjoy a free immersive experience of the speed and excitement of racing on the track,” a staff member explained. Nearby, humanoid robots are set to participate in a half-marathon competition, with the medals for this event also on display. Additionally, the exhibition area showcases the deep applications and hard results of artificial intelligence in smart aerospace, smart healthcare, and vehicle-road-cloud systems, highlighting Beijing Yizhuang’s ambition to become a “city of artificial intelligence.”

The green low-carbon transformation is another highlight of this year’s expo. In the International Green Economy Association exhibition area, nearly 50 green innovation technologies are showcased, including carbon capture technology, waste resource treatment, and smart energy solutions, painting a green production and living landscape through innovation. The pneumatic waste collection system presented by the multinational company Ahnua Group stands out, providing a solution that makes waste “invisible” by transporting sorted waste directly to collection stations through closed pipelines, ensuring a contactless and pollution-free process. A representative from the company noted that this system has been implemented in 45 cities worldwide, including in the business district of Beijing’s sub-center and the headquarters of China National Petroleum Corporation, providing high-quality solutions for urban green governance.

The collision of technology and culture has birthed unique innovative experiences. The Capital Cultural Technology Group has brought an immersive entertainment space to the exhibition area. Reporters observed staff adjusting VR equipment and interactive screens, allowing visitors to wear VR glasses and complete immersive challenge tasks in a colorful game environment, with the live game process broadcasted on large screens for real-time interaction. This immersive entertainment project, named “Wonderland Party,” has successfully entered several traditional cinemas in Beijing, aiding in their transformation into new entertainment spaces.

In addition to impressive offline exhibitions, this year’s expo has comprehensively upgraded its service and platform functions, achieving deep integration of online and offline experiences. Besides exhibitions, a “Invest in Beijing” service desk has been established to provide a full chain of services including policy consultation, project roadshows, and investment matching. More than 30 promotional and negotiation activities will be held concurrently, including the Sino-European “dual carbon” strategy practice exchange meeting and the robotics industry innovation achievements and application scenarios exchange meeting. The online digital platform has also been iteratively upgraded to create a year-round connection platform, ensuring that the Beijing Science and Technology Expo “never ends.”

The expo is open to the public for free, allowing visitors to register through the official WeChat account and watch live broadcasts of the exhibition and sales areas online, facilitating offline visits and online purchases.

Additionally, the expo collaborates with the Asian Olympic Business Circle to plan an “Exhibition and Trade Integration Consumption Season,” where over 110 surrounding merchants will offer exclusive discounts, activating new consumption momentum through the technology expo.
